The Opportunity Collaborative, funded by a 2012-2015 Sustainable Communities grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), established the Housing Committee in 2012. From 2012 to 2014, the committee oversaw the development of Strong Communities, Strong Region: The Baltimore Regional Housing Plan and Fair Housing Equity Assessment.
By 2013, the Baltimore Regional Fair Housing Group had also established the Housing Committee as the primary forum for interaction and cooperative dialogue among stakeholders regarding implementation of the Regional Fair Housing Action Plan from the 2012 Regional AI. Since 2013, the Housing Committee has reviewed annually the updated AI Implementation Plan prepared by the Fair Housing Group. The Housing Committee has also served as a key forum for discussing the allocation of State affordable housing resources, transit initiatives such as Baltimore Link, and other housing-related issues.
