As congestion in the region continues to increase, it is critical that we operate the transportation system as efficiently as possible. Using traffic counts – the number of vehicles that pass a certain point on a roadway during a certain time period – important traffic management decisions can be made.
Since 1990, the Baltimore Metropolitan Council has collected and maintained traffic count data for area roadways from a number of sources including the Maryland State Highway Administration. BMC provides an easy to use interactive map to search for traffic counts throughout the region and in surrounding counties included in the BMC Travel Demand Model.
