Background and Purpose: During the 2018 Session, the Maryland General Assembly passed the Maryland Metro/Transit Funding Act (Chapter 352). This legislation mandates the Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) to develop a Regional Transit Plan (RTP) to meet the needs of the core service area, including Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Harford, and Howard Counties, and Baltimore City. MDOT MTA must complete the RTP by October 1, 2020 working in consultation with a Central Maryland Regional Transit Plan Commission (the Commission) and the Baltimore Metropolitan Council (BMC). The plan will define public transportation goals over the next 25 years, providing a regional vision for mobility that reflect our rapidly changing world.
