What’s on Tap: Data, Apps & Analytics18:00 pm — 19:59 pm
The Baltimore region is home to 2.7 million residents and 1.7 million jobs. From 2010 to 2040, the region’s population is expected to grow 14%, while employment growth is projected at 27%. This growth will strain the 10,800+ miles of roads, port, airport and transit that makes up our transportation network, thereby affecting how easily we can get around.
Emerging technologies and big data promise to provide solutions to our complex world.
Come hear presentations from two leading experts:
:: Michael Pack, Director of the Center for Advanced Transportation Technology (CATT) Laboratory at the University of Maryland will discuss what technologies are being used at the CATT Lab, what technologies show promise, and what is the state of the art versus state of the practice in the (transportation) big data industry.
:: Katherine Klosek, Senior Implementation Advisor at GovEx at Johns Hopkins University’s 21st Century Cities Initiative and What Works will discuss her work helping 100 mid-sized American cities (including Baltimore) enhance their use of data and evidence to improve services, inform local decision-making, and engage residents.
The Baltimore Metropolitan Council invites you to join us on Tuesday, June 20 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Diamondback Brewing Company (1215 East Fort Avenue, #008, Baltimore, MD 21230).
This event is part of the Baltimore Metropolitan Council's What’s on Tap speaker series, a forum to discover, understand and share knowledge of current and emerging issues, solutions, and innovations that can meet today’s challenges and foster a better Baltimore region.
The event is free and open to the public, but RSVP @ https://whatsontap-data.eventbrite.com is requested. Come build the network.
